In this time of worry and discomfort, here is a prayer that was sent out by Kappa Alpha Psi National Chaplain Dr. William Morris Meanes, Sr.:

A National Chaplain’s Prayer for Brothers who need to know, be encouraged, and be confident that God assures us peace as we face the Coronavirus Pandemic and Crisis. Let Us Pray….

God, thou has been our dwelling place in all generations that were hurt,  harmed, humbled by catastrophes, pandemonium, and crisis. Before the mountains were brought forth or ever Thou has formed the earth, the world, and the universe, You have been our God, our hope, and our provisions.

God of our weary years, God of our unbowed heads and our silent tears. You have by your might led us to the healing light. Bring us through the storms of life,  lead us to more days of joy, health and life, and keep us forever on the everlasting path we pray.

You are the Ancient of Days who traveled through cities, towns, and villages curing sickness, disease, and illnesses. O, eternal and everlasting God, You calmly channeled concertrated commands at sickness and disease as both “stood down” to let persons be healed,  remedied, and be made whole.  Come, if You are pleased, to our aid right now, in the midst of the current global widespread of the Coronavirus so that we may be freed from fears which threaten to end our lives.

Heal, O God, those who are sick, diagnosed, and quarantined from others because they carry the virus. May they regain their miracle of healing, strength, and health through the best quality medical care.

Heal us from our thoughts of fear, which prevents Brothers, medicines, and nations from working together as humans with neighborly contributions to  helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no time, space, and borders.

God, the healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty, desperation, and sorrow.  Be with those of us who have died from the virus and their families. May they be at rest and one with You in your eternal peace.

Be with the families of those of us who are sick or have died. Brothers are afraid,  grieve, and are scared of illness and despair. Let them all know your peace.

God, be with the doctors, nurses, researchers, and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected, and who put themselves at risk in the process. Let them know your protection, power, and peace.

And God, be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with wisdom, charity, and true concern for the well being of the hurting people they serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for and/or prevent future outbreaks. Let them know your peace as they work together to achieve wellness and healing on earth.

Lord, whether we are home or abroad, please surround us with your love for people suffering from this illness and stay with us as we achieve, endure, and mourn. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace, help us, and heal nations in the name of Jesus, the Savior of the world.
Amen.
