Good job, Brothers!!

Although there were factors that tried to derail us, through your efforts and hard work, Tampa Alumni was able to have an impact in three communities this past Saturday. The second annual Turkey and Toy Giveaway was a rousing success. Not even an ongoing rain storm could dampen the mood as the Brothers helped more than 100 families in Progress Village, Silver Oaks and Jackson Heights for the holidays. Brothers Vice Polemarch Darrell X. Johnson, Kevin Jackson, Bianco Berry and Ced Carrington led a robust turnout of Brothers and Kappa Leaguers, who showed everything that is sweet doesn’t melt away in the rain.

Special thanks to the Tampa Alumni Guide Right Foundation, Metropolitan Ministries, Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Victory AME Church and the Grow My Giving organization for their support in this venture that was captured by ABC Action News. Good job Polemarch Collis Ivery III.

This was part of the Chapter’s Weekend of Giving as on Friday night, the Chapter held its second Nupe Navidad Christmas Party at The Regent in Riverview where guests were asked to bring unwrapped toys to the event. And they came through. The floor was packed, the food was good and the drinks were flowing. Nupe Navidad Chairman Russell Langham made sure everyone had a good time partying for a purpose.

On Sunday, the Kappa Leaguers concluded the Weekend of Giving by volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries holiday tent. They learned a valuable lesson that the holiday spirit is more than just gifts. Helping those in need makes a stronger community.

It was a busy but productive and worthwhile effort by all involved. Congratulations on a successful weekend Brothers!!
